Overview of After The Game MinistriesAfter the game ministries gives athletes the tools they need to manage the game of life beyond the playing field through Bible studies, mentoring, and discipleship.
After The Game Ministries is entirely supported by donations of friends, supporters, and believers in what we do.
After 13 years with FCA (Fellowship of Christian Athletes), I am excited to tell you about a ministry God has put on my heart. After the Game Ministries is a non-profit organization that was born out of a heart for professional and collegiate athletes. Through After the Game Ministries, we want to give former athletes the tools and support needed to manage the game of life beyond the playing field through regular Bible studies, mentorship and discipleship.
We will coordinate a personal mentor for the athletes we are working with who desire that level of accountability. The mentors will be mostly former athletes who have made the transition from sports to everyday life in a productive way. Mentors may also be local business people who would be able to provide guidance tailored to specific needs. Later down the road, we will encourage our athletes to give back to the community by mentoring High School and Jr. High athletes.
This will be for athletes who want to go even deeper in their walk with Christ. We want to equip athletes who may want to work in ministry or for whatever God may call them to do one day. The need for this ministry is born out of my experience as a team Chaplain for the last 12 years at both the college and pro levels. I have seen a lot of athletes leave the game, voluntarily or involuntarily, without a direction for their life, and have watched those athletes struggle for years without effective help. Our desire is to help give athletes purpose and direction for their lives after they are out of the game.
After the Game Ministries
is a place where athletes can come and get help with that transition. It’s a safe place where they can be honest and accountable to formulate and achieve their goals and find their true identity in Christ. Would you pray and ask God if He would have you partner with me in this ministry? I appreciate your prayers as I continue to step out in faith to be a blessing to athletes.
